Ukraine strikes Russian military airfield and oil depots in overnight drone attack

Ukraine has announced that it successfully struck Russia’s Morozovsk military airfield and targeted fuel tanks at the Atlas plant, along with oil depots, in an overnight drone attack.

The Morozovsk airfield, home to Su-34 Fullback fighter bombers crucial to Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine, was reportedly hit, with Kyiv stating that the attack targeted an ammunition depot where Russian forces stored guided aerial bombs.

In addition, Ukrainian drones targeted oil depots and storage facilities for fuel and lubricants in the Belgorod, Kursk, and Rostov regions, causing fires in two oil tanks.

This attack on Russian soil follows Ukraine's significant aerial strike on occupied Crimea, prompting evacuations as reported by Russian-appointed local officials. The Russia-installed governor of Sevastopol described the "massive" attack as involving at least four drones and ATACMS missiles, with debris from their interception landing in residential areas.

Meanwhile, Turkey has launched a newly built anti-submarine warship, the Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi, which is set to be delivered to Ukraine. Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska attended the launch event.

Additionally, Ukraine received its first batch of long-awaited F-16 jets this week, marking a significant milestone amid the ongoing conflict.
